Great Beer, One Experiment at a Time

Formerly known as 5168 Brewing, Catalyst Brewing is a local Omaha brewery that likes to experiment with flavor combinations as they explore their passion for the art and science of brewing. They reached out to us to help with updating their branding and packaging. A relatively new brewery, they were struggling to find a unified brand. They had elements from several varying themes running through their marketing but couldn’t land on one overall brand position.

After meeting with the owner and listening to the story behind the brewery, it quickly became apparent to us that part of the overarching struggle was the name. Taking a chance, we suggested a name change, and found the owner willing to take the leap. With a renaming to Catalyst Brewing, a unifying brand quickly flowed playing off of a science and experimental vibe.

We created a primary wordmark, slim logo, and full logo set for the beer line then applied them to crowler and tap handle designs for an initial run of six beers as well as a universal keg design. To add versatility to the brand, we created a secondary logo set with two badge variations and a graphic element. Whimsical copy and bright colors created interest and vibrance.

Rounding out the project were four hat designs and four T-shirt designs utilizing elements from the primary and secondary logo sets as well as apparel-only wordmark, icon, and seal elements that can more readily be embroidered.
